Week of

February 4 to FEBRUary 9,  2008

High School Male Athlete

Matt A.

Junior Holcomb Longhorn wrestler Matt A. had an outstanding performance at the 2008 Hi-Plains League Tournament.  Matt went 4-0 winning the 125 lb. weight class winning by fall over his league nemesis of Hugoton in the finals.  This would mark Matt's first win over the Hugoton wrestler who had previously beaten Matt three times throughout the season.  Matt overcame adversity and has become a believer in being a champion on the mat.  Over the past five weeks, Matt has grown not only as a competitive wrestler, but as an individual.  This great accomplishment only marks the beginning of becoming a CHAMPION in Matt's eyes, as he now looks forward to getting himself qualified for the STATE TOURNEY in a tough 3-2-1A regional being held in Trego County Feb. 15 & Feb 16. Congratulations Matt!!

High School Female Athlete

Aleasha K.

Aleasha played very well against both Syracuse and Hugoton.  Aleasha had 7 points in the C-Team game vs Syracuse and 21 points vs Hugoton.  Aleasha plays the point guard position and takes care of the ball as well as getting us into the offense.  Aleasha not only has played well in the C-Team, but has also been playing JV and making a consistent contribution.  Congratulations Aleasha!!
