Week of

JANUARY 28 to FEBRUary 2,  2008

High School Female Athlete

Danielle A.

Danielle has been playing very well and contributing in both the JV and Varsity.  Danielle had a very good JV Tournament at Lakin where she scored 20 points vs Scott City, 9 points vs Lakin, and 11 points vs Ulysses.  Danielle also helped in the victory against Jetmore scoring     7 points in the JV game and came into the Varsity and made 2 free throws.  Danielle not only can score, but she handles the point guard position and rebounds very well.  Danielle shows leadership by controlling the ball and getting us in our offense.  As a point guard, she must be the leader on the court.  Danielle always shows good sportsmanship and represents Holcomb well. Congratulations Danielle!!

HS Girls Basketball Coach:  Kelley Snodgrass

High School Male Athlete

Chris B.

Chris won all three of his matches this weekend at Leoti to win the 125 lb. Round Robin.  Two of those three wins were to opponents that had beat Chris earlier in the year.  We can always count on Chris to show up and work hard at practice everyday.  Chris is one of the most improved wrestlers on the team this year.  Chris is a Freshman this year, and we will count on Chris to be one of the leaders on the wrestling team in the up coming years.

HS Boys Wrestling Coach:  Eric DeLaRosa

Jr. High School Female Athlete

Kyshia P.

Kyshia is a strong force outside the perimeter as well as a tough inside post.  Kyshia's ability to get the basketball up and down the court is amazing.  She definitely knows the term FAST BREAK!  Along with Kyshia's speed on offense, her defense can be quite intimidating also.  Kyshia has become a tougher defensive player because of her ability to move her feet more and not slap at the ball which I am on her often for!!  I appreciate all of Kyshia's hard work and willingness to play any position asked of her.  As an 8th grader, I look forward to Kyshia's enthusiasm and her desire to excel and make herself the best basketball player she can be.  Way to go Kyshia!!

Jr. High Girls Basketball Coach: Jackie Robinson

Jr. High School Male Athlete

Brent K.

Brent was nominated as Jr. High Boys Basketball Athlete of the Week for his games in the Middle School HPEA League Tournament.  Brent is a very coachable player that gives his all.  Brent is also a very good team player and sees the court well.  Brent leads with his actions.  Brent's good work ethic is a great asset.  Congratulations Brent!!
